Abstract

In an indenture between Sir Matthew Brend and Sir William Smith and Thomas Smith, Brend adds 'all that messuage or tenemente and all that the Playhouse comonly called...the Globe' to the jointure of his wife, Dame Frances Brend. The indenture lists John Heminges, Cuthbert Burbage, Richard Burbage, and William Shakespeare as 'now or late' occupants.
