Abstract

Philip Henslowe writes to Edward Alleyn: Ralph Bowes is very ill, and his plans to acquire the Mastership of the Queen's Games are thus jeopardized. Neither Doctor Cæsar nor the Lord Admiral have done anything on his account, and he has learned through 'Mr. Darsey of the previ chamber' that the post has already been promised in reversion to 'one Mr. Dorington a pensener.'
