A document dated 2 July 1667 summarizes an indenture of 6 July 1629, in which the Earl of Dorset grants Richard Gunnell and William Blagrave a piece of land in the parish of St Bridget in the ward of Farringdon Without, for the purposes of erecting a playhouse and other buildings.
